Dark Forest of Noor is an original oil painting created in 2025 by fantasy artist Carol Phillips for the progcore fantasy project Dark Age of Theer.

A solitary traveler moves through an ancient forest filled with hidden watchers and half-seen forms. Pale beams of spectral light break through the tangled canopy, illuminating a winding path while the surrounding woods remain deep in shadow. The scene captures a moment suspended between danger and discovery, as though the forest itself is quietly observing the traveler’s passage.

Painted in rich shades of midnight blue, blue-green, violet, smoky lavender, silver-gray, and black, the artwork has a cool, mysterious atmosphere. Soft lilac light contrasts against the dark trees and rocky forest floor, drawing the eye toward the glowing path at the center of the composition. Subtle touches of teal, mossy green, and muted purple add depth throughout the landscape, while small luminous eyes hidden among the trees give the forest an eerie sense of life.

The painting was created in oils on a sturdy birch plywood panel that was carefully gessoed and sealed to help protect and preserve the artwork for many years.
